Shibuya VR
Immersive Point Cloud Adventure

When we open our eyes and take in the world around us, imagine everything dissolving into the smallest particles, each one floating and interacting in the vast fabric of the universe.

Reimagining Shibuya, the bustling heart of Tokyo, as a universe of illuminated particles, this project invites participants to step into a dynamic, immersive world. By transforming a 3D model into point cloud data, the virtual landscape becomes alive with interaction.

The 3D model is transformed into point cloud data using MeshLab, then brought into Unity for further development. To enhance the user experience, a custom interface allows for seamless exploration through continuous movement or teleportation, with three pre-selected spots offering hero views of the scene.

Two shaders shape the visual experience: one adds an illuminated, dreamlike effect, while the other allows users to adjust the size of the points. Additionally, four distinct point movements, driven by sine and cosine functions, create dynamic interactions. A color palette is also included, inviting users to explore various color possibilities.
